What is water transfer impression (Water Transfer Printing)?

Water Transfering or Hydro -source technology consists of a decoration process applicable to any type of material, regardless of the complexity of its form. The films or designs include from wood textures, carbon fiber, metals, camouflages to designs with decorative shapes and can be applied to textures such as wood, plastics, metals, glass and ceramics.

The WTP process uses a soluble polyvinyl paper film in the water which contains the printed designs that will subsequently be transferred to the piece to be decorated.

Once this film is located in the water, it dissolves using an activator, which allows the film to be converted into ink, thus being able to position itself on the surface of the water.

Previously, the piece to be decorated must have been treated with a washing, sanding, primer and base layer to improve its adhesion.

Once the piece has been properly treated, it will be ready to be decorated, therefore the piece and the design ink will be submerged, taking advantage of the water pressure.

Once the immersion process is finished, the piece with water must be clarified to clean it and also intensify the adhesion process. Once the piece is dry, you should apply a protective lacquer layer to keep the design in the piece for years and give it shine.
